A Bates College rising senior, Eliana Al-Konsul is originally from Madaba, Jordan. She is a psychology and Anthropology double major with a theater minor expecting to graduate in May of 2022. At Bates, Eliana is a part of the Bonner Leader Program, a 4-year community engagement program, where she regularly provides academic support as a tutor at Lewiston public schools and other youth organizations. Eliana has a strong passion for linguistic justice, which she works towards through her position as the multilingual writing student manager and writing tutor at the Bates Academic Resource Commons. She is on track to conduct a year-long honors thesis about linguistic injustice and ways of combating it in academia as a part of her anthropology major.
Eliana is excited for her time at MIRC, as it will be a significant learning opportunity and an exciting chance to give back to the Maine community. She hopes to be a supportive, enthusiastic, and insightful addition to the team.
