My name is Oo Meh and I am a rising sophomore at Bates College, concentrating on European Studies and Education. I am a part-time MIRC intern. My role within MIRC is on researching the ways that the Black, indigenous, and the immigrant community is disproportionately affected by the pandemic and how various states are responding, or lack thereof, to this occurrence. I have served in the immigrant and BIPOC communities through schools, churches, and professional sectors, which allowed me to understand how these communities are impacted and vulnerable to societal conditions. I hope to acquire valuable information during my research that would allow community leaders a wide-ranging and in-depth awareness so that they can ease the tensions experienced by the immigrant and the BIPOC community.
